Telehealth For Health Care Professionals
For Pharmacists
If one of your patients sees us for a telehealth travel health consultation, and has identified your pharmacy as where they’d like the prescription sent, we will fax you a prescription the same day as the video appointment (usually within a couple of hours). Our prescribing pharmacist will also contact you by phone after the prescription is faxed to discuss the rationale for prescribing and answer any of your questions. Logistics regarding ordering, when the patient wants to pick up or get injected, and prices and fees on your end need to be arranged between you and the patient.
Don’t have a pharmacist with Additional Prescribing Authority that knows travel health? We can help!
With our video travel health consultation service, your pharmacy can still administer vaccines and dispense travel related medications even if your pharmacists aren’t certified in travel health.
If you want to incorporate our travel health service into your practice, Polaris Travel Clinic and Pharmacy is willing to work with you to help patients travel safely. All you need is a private counselling room, a computer enabled with a webcam or an iPad, and a clientele interested in travel. Our Team
Our travel health consultants are licenced pharmacists in Alberta, who have received their Additional Prescribing Authority. They have received extensive training in the area of travel health and have received their Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM).
All prescribing decisions will be faxed to the patient’s family doctor as identified by our patient.
